From Akureyri centre drive direction Reykjavík along the main road nr 1 for approx. 3 km. When entering the roundabout at the outskirts of town take the first exit into Óðinsnes street and after a short drive take the first exit to the left, entering Krossanesborgir parking. The nature reserve area Krossanesborgir consists of many rock formations, with 5-10 million years old basalt.  Both vegetation and birdlife are rich and several marked paths invite to discover nature and wildlife. The hikes are not possible in snowy conditions.
